GROUPS
Family Groups love holidays here. Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, any excuse for a few days
away with family and friends!
There
is always something happening in the Quartz Creek Valley area of Colorado.
Snowmobile, bicycle and ATV groups can ride their vehicles from
the Hotel to the National Forest.
Wedding parties love our picturesque church and receptions in
the new Pitkin Recreation Center. The out-of-town guests enjoy
staying in the Hotel. If there is exclusive use, they love visiting
together before returning home.
Cross-Country ski groups can put their skis on at the Hotel and
ski around Pitkin, or out to Cumberland Pass Road at the edge of town.
Church groups feel right at home here. Our church is open from
Memorial Day until Labor Day, and also on Christmas Eve.
Do you have family living from one side of the country to the other,
making it difficult or impossible to spend quality time together?
Get your extended family together in one beautiful, affordable
place and enjoy
a non-commercial Christmas; buy your own tree and decorate it
with homemade decorations. As you walk to Church on Christmas Eve the stars shine so bright that it seems
as though you could touch them.
HISTORICAL
HOTEL
The Hotel is listed on the Colorado Historical Register and the Gunnison
County Register as a Historical Building.
When the Hotel was built in 1904 Teddy Roosevelt was President.
Many people believe he stayed here. There is a Roosevelt Park
and a Roosevelt Mine just a few miles from Pitkin.
And from
our front porch, the Continental Divide can be seen 12 miles above Pitkin
at 12,300 feet above sea level. You can stand on the continental
divide and have a spectacular view. The Alpine Tunnel is only 13
miles from the Hotel. Wanita Hot Springs is 11 miles from us and is
now open to the public. Gunnison, Crested Butte, and Blue Mesa
Lake are a short drive.
Pitkin has 300 sunshine days (same as Florida)
without the humidity and heat. The Hotel, being made of stone, is especially
cool in summer.
AREA
ACTIVITIES
There are activities going on year round in Pitkin. Pitkin Days are the last weekend in July. All the Old Timers come
back for a day of reminiscing at the town potluck. Children under 12
have a fishing contest at their own fishing pond.
Join our tiny forth of July Parade or watch from the hotel porch.
The town has a cookout and dance that night to raise money for the Fire
Department. Everyone is invited and everyone brings a dish or
makes a donation.
ACCOMMODATIONS
We have rooms with double beds, twin beds, and bunks.
Our Bunkroom can sleep 20 people and has two bathrooms,
a refrigerator, and microwave.
If you really must have a TV to watch that ballgame, we can provide
that also.
 |
There is a
large fully furnished kitchen. You may cook your meals here and
serve them in the Dining area. Just be sure to clean up afterwards.
What fun
to put your turkey in the oven on Thanksgiving morning
and come back after skiing to the aroma.
And Halloween
parties here are such fun at the Hotel! |
