Tucked into the center of the Rocky Mountains of Colorado, framed by the grandeur of the Continental Divide, the Town of Pitkin is part of Gunnison County which stretches across nearly 2 million acres of spectacular countryside. The area is unprecedented for unspoiled wilderness and alpine splendor. National Forest land and recreation areas blanket close to 85% of the county, providing a sanctuary for countless birds, animals and fish. Gunnison County contains 14,000 foot mountain peaks, giant man-made reservoirs, lots of sunshine, snowfall and friendly people.
