SNOW AND ROAD UPDATE AS OF 5-28-08

*Chicago Park Road is now open all the way to the 4 way intersection at the top of the meadow.

*Highline is now open from the 4 way for .3 miles to the Fossil View intersection.

*The first 200 yards of Fossil View are open.

*At this time, all access to higher reaches of the mountain is on foot. More updates in a few days.

Snow and road update as of Memorial Day 5-26-08: (Photos follow)

*Chicago Park Road (CPR) is open from the entrance to about ¼ mile above Western Star loading station. The road is blocked beyond that by patches of drifts up to 3 feet deep, some short and some quite long. From the entrance to Grasshopper the road is somewhat rough and pot holed. Beyond that, CPR is in very good condition.

*Grasshopper is open all the way to the 4 way at the top of the meadow. It is wet, muddy, and slippery in places.

*Silver Bluff is still closed by a large drift near the bottom at the curve by the aspens. Above that, it is clear up to where it levels off at Seidel's. Three or four days of melting should have it opened to the top of Silver Bluff.

*Highline is closed at the 4 way where it begins. Large patches of drifts of 3’-4’ foot depth from 4 way to Fossil View. There is almost solid snow from Fossil View further up Highline.

*Fossil View from Highline to Silver Bluff is virtually completely snow covered. Beyond that to Royal Road it is patchy with some 4 foot drifts remaining.

*North Pond Road is clear of snow.

*Cemetary Road is clear of snow and muddy.

*Armstrong Gulch Road is open to the spring and beyond for an unknown distance. From its start at Charlies Challenge to the loading station, it is rutted with water running down the road. The ruts are up to 12” inches deep.
